Quartararo ‘doesn’t feel normal’ on Yamaha after nightmare Argentina MotoGP practice

Image
Listen to this article The 2021 world champion said on Thursday ahead of the Rio Hondo event that he is battling rear grip issues on the 2023 Yamaha, which led to his comments after the Portuguese GP that he is currently unable to properly race his rivals. Throughout Friday’s two practice sessions in Argentina, Quartararo was constantly spinning his rear tyre as he accelerated and could only go 14th quickest on the combined times. Quartararo therefore faces the Q1 knockout session on Saturday morning in qualifying, with the Frenchman admitting he has “no speed” right now. “The feeling is… the worst thing is the feeling is not so bad, but there are many things with the rear going on, I cannot make corner speed,” he said. “I have no drive, but especially corner speed is something that I’m missing. I’m feeling super rigid on the bike, I don’t feel normal . So, we have to understand

Warriors could be getting Andrew Wiggins back as Steve Kerr provides optimistic update

While I'm not prepared to completely rule out the championship viability of any team that includes Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, I think we can all agree that the Golden State Warriors, if they are going to make a serious playoff run, need Andrew Wiggins back.  There could be some good news developing on that front.  Prior to Golden State's pivotal victory over the Pelicans on Tuesday, Steve Kerr revealed that Wiggins, who has missed the Warriors' last 20 Game s with what has only been described as a personal matter, has been working out on a "daily basis" and that the possibility of Wiggins not returning at some point "hasn't even been discussed."  "Once he's back," Kerr said, "our training staff will get with him and see where he is [physically]."  This is the type of language Warriors fans want

Sainz identifies his 'biggest struggle' with 2023 Ferrari

Image
Carlos Sainz has identified one of the "biggest struggles" he has faced in the Ferrari SF-23 since the start of the season. It is known that the car carries over many of the same traits as last year's F1 -75, with Sainz admitting that it has been tricky to follow in the 'dirty air' of another car. "I haven't done two good qualifying [sessions] yet, but the feeling with the car is okay," he told media, including TheFOXposts.Com . "I think the biggest struggle has been the car in dirty air, and the first stint in Bahrain and first stint in Jeddah." Since introducing the new regulations in 2022, Formula 1 has moved to limit the amount of turbulent 'dirty air' that a car produces to enable closer racing. But teams have since found ways in the regulations to exploit the rules, which is bringing back the phenomenon. Sainz adds that it is becoming a problem with the SF-23, as it leads to more overheating issues when trying

Nikola Jokic joins Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson on exclusive list after Nuggets' win vs. Sixers

Image
It wasn't the heavyweight bout everyone anticipated when the Philadelphia 76ers Travel ed to take on the Denver Nuggets Monday night, as both Joel Embiid and James Harden were out with injuries. However, that didn't stop Nikola Jokic from adding to the History books in Denver's 116-111 win at home. After putting up 25 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists, Jokic joined Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson as the only other players in NBA History to total 10+ Game s in a season of at least 20 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists. What's even crazier about Jokic's stat line from Monday night is he reached a triple-double before the fourth quarter even started. Jokic's 10 Game s this season of a 20-15-10 stat line is also more than the rest of the league has combined (six).  After the Game , when asked how he would assess his triple-double, Jokic, always a man of few words when discussing his pe

Cavaliers secure first playoff appearance without LeBron James since 1998, and this is only the beginning

When the Cleveland Cavaliers swung a blockbuster trade for Donovan Mitchell last summer, they announced themselves as a serious player in the Eastern Conference. Seven months later, that status was officially confirmed, as the Cavs clinched a spot in the playoff s with 108-91 win over the Houston Rockets.  This is the first time that the Cavs have made the playoff s since 2018, which was the third-longest active drought in the league behind the Charlotte Hornets (seven seasons) and the soon-to-be- playoff -bound Sacramento Kings (17 seasons). In addition, the Cavs will soon play postseason basketball without LeBron James for the first time since 1998. If they can win their first-round series, it will be their first series win without James since 1993.  "Organizationally, this is a big deal," Cavaliers coach J.B. Bickerstaff said. "To come from where we came from and every year continue to take steps

Jadon Sancho: Update on Man Utd winger's possible return

Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has issued an update on Jadon Sancho's progress after he was recently separated from the first-team for individual training. Sancho has stuttered once more in his second season at Old Trafford, despite flashes of brilliance under Ten Hag to begin with, and was sent away on an individual training programme as United embarked on a mid-season training camp to Spain ahead of club football's return. The club confirmed the plan was 'part of a process to get back to his highest level' with Sancho suffering from a loss of form and then illness in the weeks that proceeded the World Cup break. Ten Hag has offered the latest on the £73m winger , who missed out on England's World Cup squad, ahead of United's return to Premier League action. Asked if Sancho could be back for the Game against Nottingham Forest on 27 December, he replied: "I don't think so". Ahead of United taking on Burnley in the Carabao Cup, a game

90min's favourite football moments of 2022

Image
There was a lot of football played in 2022. Too much football? Probably. But there were still plenty of great moments that, despite football-watching fatigue, the editorial team at 90min were able to enjoy. So without further ado, here are said moments: Jack Gallagher Derry City won the FAI Cup / Tim Clayton - Corbis/GettyImages It's fair to say that the League of Ireland isn't the best, biggest or richest league in the world, but it's the one that myself and my da have been going to watch my hometown club, Derry City, play in for over two decades. While I still haven't seen the Candystripes win the League of Ireland (despite finishing second on four occasions in those two decades, missing out on goal difference during one particularly heartbreaking season), I have been lucky enough to see the boys lift the domestic cup - the FAI Cup - four times. The most recent time was this year, when over 20,000 Derry natives made an eight-hour round trip to Dublin to watch Ruaidhr

Jurgen Klopp hails Lionel Messi as 'the greatest'

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hailed Lionel Messi as the greatest footballer of his lifetime following the forward's World Cup triumph. Messi was in inspired form this winter in Qatar, scoring seven goals - including two in the final win over France - and assisting a further three as Argentina won their first World Cup since 1986. The World Cup win has, to many (including 90min ), cemented Messi's legacy as the greatest Football er of all time, and speaking to the press ahead of the return of Premier League Football , Klopp agree. "Argentina deserved it and when you saw the team and the country celebrating, then it probably hit the right country in difficult times. I am really happy for them, they waited for a long time," Klopp said. "The greatest Football er in my lifetime, Lionel Messi, the way he plays Football in this age should give us all a hint at how long Football ers can perform at the top level. We shouldn’t close the books too early. It was a

Lakers' Austin Reaves is making a leap, but Gilbert Arenas rule may make it hard for L.A. to pay him for it

Take a deep breath, Lakers fans. I know all of this feels familiar. An undrafted guard has emerged as a key rotation player. He is thriving as the Lakers deal with major injuries elsewhere on the roster. His presence is keeping a potentially doomed season afloat. He's setting himself up for a major payday in the process. The Lakers lost Alex Caruso when this happened two years ago. Here's the good news: the Lakers can legally match any offer another team makes Austin Reaves as a restricted free agent this offseason. If they want to keep him, it will be well within their power to do so. Until a few weeks ago, doing so seemed like it would be a relatively affordable endeavor. While the Lakers could've locked Reaves up for two more years at close to a minimum salary had they managed their cap sheet a bit more effectively in 2021, the advantage of letting him reach restricted free agency in 2023 was that i
