Barcelona make contact with in-demand midfielder over summer transfer - report

Barcelona have made contact with Everton over a potential deal to sign midfielder Amadou Onana, according to a report. Barcelona have been open with their desire to reinforce in midfield even before the devastating knee injury suffered by Gavi, which has left Xavi's side short in the heart of the pitch. Onana was touted as a potential target during January before sporting director Deco admitted there was no money to make any signings, but he has now been linked with a summer transfer to Catalonia. According to Sport , Deco has reached out to Everton to lodge his interest in joining the battle for Onana's signature. Onana, 22, has impressed since joining Everton for £33m in 2022 and has often been linked with a move to a number of Premier League giants, with Arsenal and Chelsea regularly tipped to move for the Belgium international. Chelsea midfielder joins Strasbourg on loan

Chelsea have announced midfielder Andrey Santos will join sister club Strasbourg on loan for the rest of the season. Santos spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Nottingham Forest but was seldom used at the City Ground and his spell in the East Midlands was cut short early. The 19-year-old, who is currently captaining Brazil's Under-23s at the CONMEBOL pre-Olympic tournament in Venezuela, will spend the last few months of the season in Ligue 1 with Strasbourg. Chelsea's BlueCo owners purchased Strasbourg last summer as part of their plans to form a multi-club group. They have already loaned in young winger Angelo following his move to Stamford Bridge. Santos signed for Chelsea in January 2023 from Vasco da Gama before rejoining them on loan until the summer. He featured in pre-season under Mauricio Pochettino but the club ultimately decided he should continue his development elsewhere. Ex-Manchester United midfielder James Garner has insisted he was "right" to leave the club to join Everton in 2022. The now-22-year-old joined Man Utd at Under-8 level back in 2008 and worked his way up through the academy to make his senior debut aged 17 in 2019, coming off the bench in a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. After just two Premier League appearances however, Garner was shipped out on a series of loans to Championship clubs Watford and Nottingham Forest between 2020 and 2022. Manchester City are set to win the race to sign Velez Sarsfield midfielder Maximo Perrone, 90min understands. The 19-year-old has been on the radars of a number of sides across Europe, with Benfica the latest to express an interest in Perrone as they brace themselves for the possible departure of Chelsea target Enzo Fernandez.
