Man City vs Copenhagen - Champions League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Image
Manchester City are aiming to seal their place in the Champions League quarter-finals when they take on FC Copenhagen on Wednesday night. The Danish side gave the holders a brief scare in the first leg, drawing level in the first half after Kevin De Bruyne had given City an early lead. However, Pep Guardiola's imperious oufit scored twice in the second half to take a commanding 3-1 lead to the Etihad. The Cityzens haven't lost a Champions League fixture on home soil in almost six years. The hosts head into Wednesday's bout off the back of an impressive Manchester derby win during which their distinct superiority over United was once again asserted. Local boy Phil Foden was the hero as City overturned an early deficit. Guardiola's side typically find their imperious groove at this point in the season and they'll be looking to bypass Copenhagen with little hassle in midweek. The Danes were beaten by Midtjylland on Friday night in a potentially decisive top-of-the-tab...

Special Chelsea 'agent' urging Victor Osimhen to join from Napoli

Image
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has admitted he's continually "sending messages" to Victor Osimhen over joining the club from Napoli this summer. Osimhen has long been targeted by a handful of top sides and recently signed a new contract which includes a release clause worth over £100m to faciltate a summer exit from Napoli. Chelsea hold strong interest in the Nigeria international but Arsenal remain in the race for his signature, while Paris Saint-Germain have added Osimhen's name to a list of potential replacements for Kylian Mbappe. "I think there is genuine interest between both," Mikel told Ben Jacobs , while admitting he's acting as somewhat of an 'agent' . "I think he loves the club, he wants to come to the club. Obviously, he wants to follow my footsteps as a Nigerian player who has played for Chelsea – Victor Moses, Celestine Babayaro, not a lot of us. "London as well, fantastic city, instead of going to Liverpool or ...

Napoli vs Barcelona - Champions League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Image
Napoli and Barcelona have grown familiar with one another in recent years, and the pair meet yet again in the Champions League round of 16. The two clubs have endured pretty wretched title defences in their respective domestic leagues this season, although a last-gasp victory at Celta Vigo may have brought Barca back into title contention after Real Madrid dropped points at Rayo Vallecano. Xavi, who'll be leaving his post at the end of the season, has overseen a resurgence - purely from a results perspective - since he revealed his decision to step down. He'll now manage Barca for the first time in the Champions League knockout stages. While Barca's domestic campaign has been underwhelming, Napoli's has been a borderline disaster. The verve of 2022/23 has dissipated rapidly, and they face a battle to qualify for Europe next season. Wednesday's hosts sit ninth in Serie A after being held at home to Genoa on Saturday. Here's 90min's preview of Wednesday...

Man Utd duo absent from training before crunch Bayern Munich clash

Image
Manchester United were without both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in Monday's training session as they prepare for their crunch Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. United head into Tuesday's Game sitting last in their group and must beat the German champions if they are to avoid elimination, but Erik ten Hag's men are also relying on Galatasaray and Copenhagen drawing, which would open the door for United to leapfrog both. Ten Hag's preparations for the Game , however, have been handed a blow as United confirmed both Martial and Rashford missed Monday's session through illness. Both players featured in Saturday's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, with Martial starting the Game and Rashford coming off the bench for the final ten minutes, but both players' involvement against Bayern now appears to be in doubt. Rasmus Hojlund is expected to start at striker but Ten Hag's options around him will be limited. Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Facundo Pell...

Galatasaray vs Man Utd - Champions League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Image
Manchester United can see their Champions League journey come to an end in the group stage on Wednesday evening should they fail to get the right result in Turkey against Galatasaray. The Premier League side come into this one after an impressive 3-0 win away at Everton, but a defeat in Istanbul would eliminate them from Europe's top club competition with another group game still to play. Erik ten Hag's side sit at the bottom of Group A with just three points from their first four Game s. With plenty of injuries still plaguing the team, it will take a couple of big performances to progress from this point. A draw would keep their hopes alive as long as Copenhagen do not beat Bayern Munich, but Man Utd have to play on the basis that three points are a necessity. Here's all you need to know about Galatasaray vs Man Utd in the Champions League. What time does Galatasaray vs Manchester United kick-off? Location : Istanbul, Turkey Stadium : RAMS Park Date : Wednesday 29 Novembe...

AC Milan 2-1 PSG: Player ratings as Leao & Loftus-Cheek inspire huge European win

Image
AC Milan secured their first win of the Champions League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain that blows Group F wide open. Ex-Inter man Milan Skriniar headed PSG ahead early on but Rafael Leao cancelled that out almost immediately, before Olivier Giroud's thumping header in the second half fired Milan to a famous, entertaining victory. After Borussia Dortmund's triumph over Newcastle United earlier on Tuesday, all four teams are now separated by just three points heading into the final two matchdays. How the game unfolded Ruben Loftus-Cheek fizzed over the bar early on as Milan made a hot start to proceedings, but it was PSG who took the early lead as former Inter captain Skriniar found himself unmarked at the back post to nod home from a corner. Milan missed the chance to respond immediately through Yunus Musah, who fired straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma with the goal gaping, but they wouldn't trail for long. In the 12th minute, Donnarumma saved Giroud...

Every player to win UEFA Champions League and Copa Libertadores

Image
Not for the first or last time, a Daily Mail headline sparked outrage. Yet, the back page of an issue from December 1954 prompted the creation of something positive out of the cries of fake news. "Hail Wolves, Champions of the World," the English red top declared after Stan Cullis' side defeated Hungarian champions Honved. Former French international turned editor of L'Equipe , Gabriel Hanot, was so disgusted by the suggestion that Wolves were the elite example that he set the wheels in motion for the first edition of the European Cup, which would later become the UEFA Champions League . Chile was the driving force behind the South American equivalent but had to convince the Atlantic leaders - Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay - that money could be made from the pan-continental competition. Eventually, the Copa Libertadores was born in 1960. Only 15 players have ever claimed winners' medals from both competitions in the modern era. Here is a look at those select ind...
